Knee
My ACL
The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) stabilizes your knee during cutting, pivoting, and landing.

What can go wrong
ACL tears usually happen during non-contact pivots, sudden deceleration, or awkward landings. Patients often feel a pop, followed by swelling, instability, and difficulty returning to sport. Reconstruction with an autograft or allograft, paired with structured rehabilitation, is the standard for active patients.
Prevention
- Neuromuscular training programs (especially for young female athletes)
- Strengthen quads, hamstrings, and glutes
- Practice proper landing and cutting mechanics
